Message from the Chairman

I have watched the development of the website over many months and marvelled at the vast collection of archival material which we have assembled for the use of the family historians who will visit it. The commitment and ingenuity of many volunteers have combined to deliver a resource which I hope will become essential to thousands of researchers tracing Ancestors hailing from Manchester and further afield.

You will find all the familiar resources from the previous website together with many new features which make use of modern technologies. Whether you access the site using desktop, laptop, tablet or Smartphone, I am confident you will be thrilled by the ease with which your curiosity and research interests will be rewarded.

There is just one caveat. The Covid-19 pandemic has turned our planned programme topsy-turvy and the new site will, for the time being, necessarily contain provisional details only of future activities. As government restrictions ease and we are able to resume our planned programmes we will carry the latest information as soon as it becomes available, but you will need to confirm the details of each event as the provisional date approaches.

I want your experience of the new site to be an exciting mix of old and new, providing you with every resource you will need to further your family history research interests.
