The Pigeon Tower in Rivington, nestled within the scenic West Pennine Moors of Lancashire, is a charming and historically rich structure that captivates visitors with its unique blend of architectural style and storied past. Built in the early 20th century by the wealthy soap magnate William Hesketh Lever, later known as Lord Leverhulme, the tower was originally designed as part of the extensive Rivington Gardens.

Standing at three stories tall, the Pigeon Tower features distinctive design elements, including a picturesque turret and decorative stonework. The lower two floors were initially used as a dovecote to house pigeons, while the top floor served as a serene retreat for Lady Leverhulme, complete with a study and stunning views over the surrounding countryside.

The tower and the surrounding gardens were part of Leverhulme's vision to create a tranquil escape that harmonised with nature, reflecting his interest in landscape design and the Arts and Crafts movement. Today, the Pigeon Tower is a beloved landmark for hikers and history enthusiasts exploring the area, offering a glimpse into the idyllic past and the ambitious dreams of one of Britain's notable industrialists.
